Press Release: Burning Man Festival Embraces EMS Manager For Scheduling Medical Personnel

When Pat Songer, EMS Director for the Humboldt General Hospital EMS/Rescue Department, began preparing for Burning Man he knew he wanted to schedule his medical staff with the same platform he had been using for nearly 5 years at his own service - EMS Manager. Burning Man is an annual art event and temporary community based on radical self-expression and self-reliance in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.

"It was an advantageous tool to see where we needed to put people in and where we needed to make coverage requests. For a week and half of scheduling, EMS Manager was excellent and we plan on using it again in the future,” Songer said.

HGH EMS Rescue provided advanced life-support ambulance service within the created Black Rock City, for the week long event. A 2,000 square foot medical clinic was open around the clock handling all ground transports to Reno hospitals. In total, over 2300 patients were seen and 33 transports were taken off the playa.
